Review summary

Users appreciate that the app allows interval shooting using the native camera app, enabling high-quality time-lapses and working well with long exposure photography. However, many report serious issues such as app instability leading to lost photos, incomplete image capture, unclear and extensive permissions, poor customer support, and confusing pricing due to multiple necessary in-app purchases. While functional for some, these problems severely impact reliability and user satisfaction.
Pros
  • Effectively triggers the shutter button for interval photography, enabling time-lapse creation.
  • Allows usage of the native phone camera app for better picture quality compared to third-party apps.
  • Works well when the interval time is set longer than the exposure time, especially for long exposure astrophotography.
  • Simple to use with a one-click shutter control, making it convenient for various photography projects.
  • Can be used with external cameras and remote shooting setups, enhancing flexibility for users.
Cons
  • Requires extensive permissions, including accessibility and overlay permissions, which are not clearly explained in the app description.
  • App instability and crashes can cause loss of hours of captured photos, especially during long shoots like astrophotography.
  • Issues with image capture where some shots are black, corrupted, or fewer than the set number of images are taken.
  • Inconsistent or no responsiveness from developer support, with multiple users reporting unanswered emails regarding problems.
  • Additional essential features require multiple in-app purchases, making the full functionality costly and confusing, with poor upfront disclosure of pricing.

This does work but requires substantial security access to your phone. Permissions include accessibility (as the app works as an overlay). To me, this should be flagged and explained in the description, but it's not. There were no reviews visible to me so I thought I would add one here. I had been using Lapse It Pro, but that has been abandoned.

Unable to restore the pro version on new phone. Wrote an email mentioned in the support section 6 months ago and got no response either.

Very disappointed, to say the least. Not once have I been able to actually see or save any photos supposedly captured over the several nights I've attempted to use it for astrophotography on my Pixel 7 Pro. I have the paid version and the most recent version of app, so that makes the disappointment hit even harder. Literally left with a dud product, 6+ hours of what could've been spectacular imagery just wasted, and less change in my wallet for it all. 1/5 is lowest I can rate; 0 fits it better.

I use this app to make time-lapses for the purpose of documenting my creative process. Many times, when this app is supposed to be capturing photos in my phone's camera app, I'll return to my phone after hours of painting to see the camera app no longer active. When this happens, the menu section of Intervalometer will be open. This is highly problematic because there is no indication when and if the app will crash back to the main screen. In the end I often lose hours of work.

I'm using this on a spare 4G phone I had, with a Canon M200 to take time lapse astrophotography. I read that the phone should not sleep or be interrupted while using this app, so I set the phone to never lock and connect a charger to the phone before starting. I also turned off all phone notifications. At first, the app only worked for about an hour at a time. To fix this, I started using the Bluetooth remote option in the Canon app instead of Remote live Shooting. That fixed it. Works great!

In my opinion, this is an underrated app. It has so much potential for mobile photography enthusiasts. The ability to work with the phone's native camera app takes this into an entirely different dimension. As we all know, no other camera app works better than the native one when it comes to the picture quality but most of the time native camera app is not capable of taking timelapses in PRO or RAW mode. This app bridges that gap. I could shoot beautiful timelapses with S23 Ultra's Expert RAW.

Unable to get this app to work with my Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G. It looked promising, and I was willing to pay for the app technology to make it easier to get star trails. I will be uninstalling this app. I tried re-installing and I was wrong, it can work with my phone, but at $59. plus some monthly it is not worth spending for the subscription.

I tried the app with just 2 images set. That was fine. I then increased the images to 10. Only 5 were taken. Wherever the number was set the images fell short. I then paid £1.69 for extended features. This did not make any difference to the images problem. I have sent an email to the author about the problem a few days ago. No response.

I get everything set and it works at first, it will take like 30 photos in a row that are normal, but then all the sudden every photo will be black with lines through it like a broken tv screen or something. I've done 3 different time lapses and it has done this mid shoot all three times. Which was dissapointing cuz I left my phone for hours thinking i was getting good photos just to find out 90% of the photos taken are useless.

The app successfully writes over the camera app as advertised, until you purchase the advanced features that is. After the advanced feature was purchased, I rebooted my Pixel 6 pro and then activated both the intervalometer and the camera app, via the intervalometer app. It no longer writes over the camera app, even though a check of the settings still indicates that it has the permissions to do so. It is now worthless and unusable.
