Review summary

Users appreciate the Canadian Migraine Tracker for its simplicity, customization options, and responsive customer support, noting it is easier to use than some alternatives. However, multiple reviews highlight significant drawbacks including the lack of dark mode, technical bugs that affect data entry and saving, insufficient medication tracking features, and missing functionality for comprehensive symptom and preventative treatment tracking. Usability concerns especially while experiencing migraines indicate the need for improved interface and feature enhancements.
Pros
  • App is simple and straightforward to use compared to other migraine tracking apps.
  • Allows customization such as adding symptoms and medications as needed.
  • Good customer support with quick responses and helpful service.
  • Clean layout and easy to figure out, recommended by neurologists.
  • Provides various report formats helpful for tracking and medical appointments.
Cons
  • Lack of dark mode causes difficulty using the app during migraines due to light sensitivity.
  • App experiences bugs and technical issues like freezing, crashing, syncing problems, and difficulty saving notes.
  • No ability to track multiple medications per day with individual medication effectiveness ratings.
  • Some features are missing or limited, such as tracking preventive treatments like injections or nerve blocks, and tracking multiple or continuous symptoms.
  • Usability issues including a frustrating notes section, problematic UI elements covering text cursor, and difficulties deleting entries.

Overall it is very good. I like being able to add symptoms and medications as needed. I don't see the need to enter a non- migraine day into the calendar. This seems like "busywork." If I don't have a migraine, I don't record anything. Also, deleting an entry is very difficult. Still, it is a quick and relatively easy way to track my migraines.

Please fix - I need to see what preventative injection or infusion I received. I'm able to enter the injection day but not able to click on that day and see the details. Update. I still don't see a way to indicate preventatives, or occipital nerve blocks. We all need to keep track of this information, especially because many people need to keep trying different preventatives until one is found to be effective.

The app is fairly simple and straight forward to use. One thing that I think would help CHRONIC sufferers is if the app could automatically track continuous symptoms instead of having to go through the questions everyday. (And only change it when needed) Also,it isn't always easy to go through all the questions etc, whether its brain fog or other cognitive symptoms, so I think it would be even more helpful if there was a way to speak into the app instead of typing

It's mostly good, my only complaint is in the "notes" section. The "next" button covers the cursor so I can't see what I'm typing out. Trying to put a note into a day file is giving me another headache. Maybe move the "next" button up a bit?

Neurologist recommended this app...filled out all my information. Tried to log in and password doesn't work. Tried to reset password...no reset email sent after several days if trying. Now I've lost some of my logged info. Don't tell me to check spam, already have. Not a happy camper. Less than a STAR!!

Would like it to be able to use it to keep track of medication (how much used /month), and also wish you could rate each medication for effectiveness. Some days I take more then one relief medication - one might fail and one might work, but there is no way to capture that (other than in the notes).

I actually love this app when it's actually working but it seems to have just stopped! It just sits there taking forever to load but never does! There's a lot of bugs that need to be worked out! I hope it's fixed soon so I can continue using it and don't have to find a replacement app.

Does what it needs to do, in general. A couple small UI gripes but nothing major - except that I *REALLY* wish it had a dark mode. I want to fill out info on my attacks as they happen in case I forget any details later, but I get bad light sensitivity with migraines, and most of the app is blindingly white. You'd think that would be kind of a no-brainer when you're building an app specifically for people with migraines, but I guess not.

CMT is simpler to use than Migraine Buddy. But it is often too unreliable & aggravating to use in a migraine, because it freezes, crashes, has connection issues, loading/saving issues, & errors in its summaries, plus it has no dark mode. Despite some customization options, it also seems to be designed around an assumption that there is no need for hourly tracks, durations, etc. That might be ideal for some users. But it isn't granular enough to track much about chronic daily migraines.
