Features & Capabilities

Barometer is a simple and accurate atmospheric pressure tracking app designed for Android devices (Android 6 or newer). It provides real-time measurements of atmospheric pressure even on devices without built-in pressure sensors by using your internet connection and location data. Users can choose between two popular units of measurement (hPa-mbar and mmHg) and benefit from additional weather parameters such as temperature, cloudiness, visibility, altitude, and calibrated pressure.

This free and ad-free extension requires only location permission and keeps the device's screen on for continuous monitoring. Barometer is ideal for users interested in tracking changing weather trends through reliable pressure data, making it a practical tool for both casual weather enthusiasts and serious meteorology followers.

User Reviews

Users appreciate the app's elegant design, functionality, and privacy by not data-mining, and its ability to read the phone's internal barometer. However, common issues include incorrect pressure readings, unclear GPS location features, lack of transparency about weather data sources, forced use of location services that drain battery, and the presence of ads or promotional links to other apps.

Pros

Elegant and aesthetically pleasing design

Does not data-mine user information
Provides additional weather data on a secondary screen
Generally considered a good app by users

Cons

App shows incorrect atmospheric pressure
Unclear GPS location functionality and incomplete location display
Lacks clarity on the source of weather data provided
Requires location services which consume battery power and cannot enter locations manually
Feels more like an advertisement for other apps with buttons leading to Google Play
