Widget Works

Widget Works is a small factory that runs on your patience.

Raw material goes in at the top of a four-stage chain (extractor, foundry, assembler, refinery) and value comes out at the bottom. You start by feeding it by hand. Then you buy the first stage. Then you automate it. Then the next one. At some point the line runs without you, and the only question left is where the money goes.

URGENT ORDERS
A banner offers a timed contract: collect a set amount of currency before the clock runs out and take the reward.

DISMANTLE FOR PATENTS
When growth stalls, dismantle the factory. You lose your currency, generators, managers and stock, and you earn Patents, which are permanent. Patents buy upgrades in a six-node tree: global production x2, manual collecting x5, sale prices x1.5 and more.
