Prisk Rounds

Long car journeys, waiting rooms, the queue at the passport office. Prisk Rounds is a small pocketful of games for the grown-up holding the phone, so that everybody else can look out of the window instead.

Nothing in here needs a screen to play. The app holds the rules and picks the game; the playing happens out loud, between people.

Games

Eighteen of them, sorted into spotting, talking, counting, memory and silly. Number Plate Words. Cows on My Side. Would You Rather. I Went to the Shop. The Quiet Game, for the moments a parent needs it most. Each one is written out in a couple of lines — enough to explain it to a five year old without reading a paragraph aloud.

Some games carry a prompt bank. Tap for a fresh Would You Rather, a story opener, or something to spy that nobody has spied yet.

The wheel

Nobody can agree, everybody is tired. Tap the wheel, let it choose, and the argument is over. The game it lands on comes with its rules and a button to say you played it.

Bingo

Sixteen things to spot on the road: a tractor, a water tower, a lorry with a name on it, someone eating in a car. Tap them as they go past. The app notices a full line and says so. A new board is one tap away when the old one runs out.

Played

A quiet tally of what you have actually played and how often, plus a star for the ones that always work. Handy when you get in the car next Saturday and cannot remember what went down well.

Made for two to six people, ages five and up, though the talking games are just as good with two adults and a long motorway.

There is nothing to sign into and nothing to switch on. No internet permission, no accounts, no timers pushing you along — just a phone in a pocket that knows eighteen games.
