Mars Nurse Study

Mars NurseStudy is a mobile-first learning companion specifically designed for nursing students to provide a centralised platform for structured study materials. The application aims to offer tailored content—including notes, voice notes, and past papers—relevant to a student's specific program and year of study.



Target Audience and Personalisation

The app is intended for students enrolled in various nursing disciplines, such as Registered Nursing, Midwifery, Mental Health Nursing, Oncology Nursing, and Public Health Nursing. During the initial sign-up process, users select their specific program and current year of study (Year 1, 2, or 3) to ensure the dashboard and study materials are tailored to their academic needs.



Core Features

Personalised Dashboard: After signing in, students access a dashboard that displays only the courses relevant to their selected program and year. Users can easily navigate between years using a tabbed bar.

Course Learning Hub: Each course contains specific learning materials, including:Voice Notes: Streamable audio files that include metadata such as duration and file size.

Written Notes: These are typically hidden until the corresponding voice note is played.

Search & Filter: Students can search for specific courses or filter content by topic keywords.

Past Papers Section: This area allows users to view previous exam papers in PDF or image format, filterable by year or course. To protect premium content, these files are view-only and cannot be downloaded.

Progress Tracking and Favourites: Users can mark content as "Completed" or "Favourite". A dedicated Favourites section allows for quick access to bookmarked courses and specific content.


Application Structure and Design

The app's user interface is built around a "Clinical Calm" colour palette, using medical blue (#1976D2) and healing green (#4CAF50) to evoke trust and focus. It supports both Light and Dark modes for readability during daytime or night-time study sessions.

The navigation is facilitated through a side drawer menu containing links to the Dashboard, Past Papers, Favourites, Profile & Settings, and a logout option.



Technical and Security Specifications

Tech Stack: The application is developed using Java/Kotlin for the frontend, with Firebase handling the backend, including Firestore for the database, Firebase Storage for files, and Firebase Auth for secure user sessions.

Security Restrictions: To preserve the premium content model, downloads and file transfers are prohibited. Content is delivered via streaming, and the app may disable screenshots for locked content. Access is managed through token-based authentication.
