Fossilrow

Fossilrow helps you work out what you just picked up off the beach or the spoil heap. Sixteen common fossils are described by shape, texture, typical size and the period they come from, each with the field mark that gives it away.

The identification key narrows candidates from what you can actually see — pick a shape, a surface texture and a period, leave anything uncertain on Any, and the list shrinks as you go. The finds journal records site, bed, date and notes, because a fossil without provenance loses most of its value. A quiz on geological periods keeps your dating sharp, and a timeline screen shows how long each period ran.

Works entirely offline. Includes a collecting-code screen: take from fallen material, never dig a cliff face, record the bed, and leave rare finds in place.
