AN ACCURATE PANCHANGAM

The positions of the sun and moon are computed with an astronomical ephemeris and converted to sidereal longitudes using the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa, the standard for Indian almanacs. Sunrise, sunset and every kalam window are worked out for the district you pick, so the times are yours and not a single city's.

Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. Sunrise differs by about ten minutes across Kerala, and that is enough to change the nakshatram printed for a day.

QUESTIONS

Does it work without internet?
Yes. The whole panchangam is calculated on your phone. Nothing is downloaded, so it works on a train, in a temple or with mobile data switched off.

Which ayanamsa does it use?
Lahiri, also called Chitrapaksha, the one Indian almanacs and the Indian Calendar Reform Committee use.

Do I need to sign in?
No. There is no login, no account and no sign-up. Install it and it works.

Does it show Rahu kalam for my town?
It shows Rahu kalam, Gulika kalam and Yamagandam computed from sunrise and sunset for whichever of the 14 Kerala districts you choose.

Can I read it in Malayalam?
Yes. Malayalam is the default, and English is one tap away in Settings.
