Drum notation you write by tapping.

Mai Drum Studio lets you write drum charts by tapping cells on a grid instead of placing notes on a staff one at a time. The note lands where you tapped, and beams and rests sort themselves out. Press play and hear it straight away.

Built for tablets. Turn it sideways and the score sits on the left, the input grid on the right.

TRANSCRIBE (NEW)

· Play a YouTube video, or an mp3 or mp4 file, inside the app and write it into the grid right below
· Slow it down to 0.25x without changing the pitch, and loop the bar you are copying
· Mark where bar 1 starts and the grid follows the music bar by bar

WRITING

· Tap the grid and the score draws itself in real time
· 4/4, 3/4, 5/4, 6/8, 9/8, 12/8, 5/8, 7/8, and time signature changes mid-song
· Eighths, sixteenths, thirty-seconds, triplets, quintuplets and septuplets, set per beat
· Ghost notes, accents, open and half-open hi-hat, cross-stick, rim shot, rolls, flams, drags, ruffs, ties and rests
· R and L sticking above or below the notes
· Repeats, 1st and 2nd endings, segno, coda, D.S., dynamics and hairpins. Playback follows all of them
· Lyrics, notes and section names on any bar
· Show only the instruments you play
· Keyboard shortcuts for Bluetooth keyboards

E-DRUM

· Connect an electronic drum kit by USB, play along with the click, and the chart is written as you play
· Open MIDI files (.mid) and turn them into notation

LISTENING

· Dynamics are audible: ghost notes sit back, accents open up
· Four drum sounds, including Studio and Jazz kits recorded from real drums
· Swing and shuffle feel
· Double-tap a bar to hear just that bar

PRACTICE

· Loop the bars that beat you. The speed trainer raises the tempo every few passes
· A metronome built for drummers: big beat pads, subdivisions, polyrhythm, gap trainer, setlists and a counting voice
· Practice log: today's practice, playback and edits are recorded automatically. Look back by day, week, month and year
· Practice card: today's session as one image, ready to share

YOUR SCORES STAY ON YOUR DEVICE

Writing, playback and practice all work offline. Your scores are never sent to a server, and there is no account to make. The internet is used only when you play a YouTube video in Transcribe.

The app follows your device language on first launch, and you can switch any time in Settings.
