A 5-minute walk at the station, collecting cards along the way. A stamp rally across 8,980 stations nationwide. Records of your city walks remain on cards and badges.
An app that makes you want to visit new towns.
"Machimegu" (Town Exploration) is a town exploration app featuring 8,980 train stations across Japan.
Just 5 minutes near a station earns you a town card. Collect cards that change with the season, time of day, and weather, add photos, and build your own unique town records.
■ Simply standing at a station records the town.
5 minutes within 500m of a station is all it takes to check in, and a card unique to that town is added to your collection.
You can turn off the screen while walking. It's fine to keep it in your pocket.
Even if 5 minutes pass in an area with no signal, the record will be saved when the signal returns.
■ 8,980 stations nationwide. Only currently operating stations are included.
Closed stations are not included. Transfer stations are counted as one station (approximately 10,000 stations if counted by line).
All stations include a unique introductory comment and phonetic readings for that town.
Even if it's a station you've never heard of, you can learn a little about it before getting off.
■ See the "Power" of a City in Numbers
Food and drink, commerce, daily life, medical care. We compile data on shops and facilities in a city and calculate a "City Power" score out of 1000 points.
Shibuya has 941 points. What score would your favorite city get?
It's ranked on a 5-point scale: S / A / B / C / D, and you can compare it with any station nationwide.
The station information also displays the total number of check-ins from everyone.
While you wait 5 minutes, you can also search for restaurants, cafes, and izakayas around the station on Google Maps.
■ Cards and Badges Grow
The cities you visit become cards, with the season, time of day, and even the weather recorded on them.
Even the same station will have different cards depending on whether it's a summer day or a winter night.
Occasionally, a blue-glowing "Shiny" or a seasonal "Mythic" will appear.
If you visit the same city often, your card will earn titles such as "Regular," "Guide," "Master," and "Treasure." The badges for conquering routes, prefectures, and ranks progress from bronze, silver, and gold to black and gold, and then purple.
Experience points accumulate each time you acquire a card or badge, and your title changes as your level increases.
■ Guide Rabbit "Megupyon"
For first-time users, she'll gradually guide you through using the map and cards,
and accompany you on your city walks with celebrations for milestones and a brief comment about the season and weather of the day.
You can turn off her display at any time in the settings.
■ Compatible with Foldable Smartphones and Tablets
When closed, it's the usual city walk. When opened, you can view the map, My Page, rankings, and cards side by side.
It can be used in both landscape and portrait orientations. Search results for restaurants, cafes, and izakayas near stations also open next to the map.
■ Attach Photos to Cards
The back of the card is an album. Save photos taken in the city you walked through,
and attach your favorite one to the front of the card.
Photos are saved only within your account and are not shared with others.
■ Choose your "favorite town"
You can register towns you visit often, towns with special memories, as your favorites.
You can also see how many other people have chosen that town as their favorite.
■ Save "stations you want to visit"
Save stations you're interested in with a flag, and they'll stand out on the map, subtly notifying you when you're nearby. They'll automatically be removed from the list once you've visited.
■ For people who:
・Can't decide where to go on their days off
・Love trains and want to enjoy getting off at various stations

2. Tap the station you want to visit to start checking in.
3. Walk around that town for 5 minutes.
