Features & Capabilities

"The Koren Tefilla App" is a digital siddur providing three nusaḥim: Sefaradim, Sefarad, and Ashkenaz. Designed by Eliyahu Koren, it features smart tefillot based on the annual cycle and various modes like minyan and ḥazzan. The app enhances the davening experience with audio preparations, commentary from Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, and customizable word-by-word display. With additional tools for learning and reflection, it's an innovative approach to prayer beyond traditional printed siddurs.

User Reviews

Users praise the Koren look, readable text, and convenient page-based format. Repeated concerns include missing prayers and Torah content, limited display and navigation customization, and the lack of dark mode. Some also report translation problems and content or bookmark glitches.

Pros

The familiar Koren design, clear typography, and polished layout are widely appreciated.
Page-based, organized prayers make davening convenient without constant scrolling.
Users value the app’s potential and customization options, including language modules and tools such as zmanim and Hebrew dates.

Cons

Multiple reviews report missing prayers or content, including Torah readings/parshiyot and parts of specific services.
Display and navigation options need improvement: users mention oversized margins, poor fit on some screens, and requests for alternatives to swiping or automatic scrolling.
Dark mode and more flexible appearance settings, such as background colors and font-size adjustments, are commonly requested.
Some users report translation limitations, missing text, or other bugs such as incorrect bookmarks and prayer content.

I just downloaded the app and it's beautiful. Clearly a lot of research, design and planning went into it. However, I won't switch to using it yet. My current siddur app allows me to add a list of names into רפאנו and that's very important to me. Is this a feature you could consider?
