Resilience in tourism: Training — compact, digital and practical

Features & Capabilities

Resilient Tourism

Within the framework of the Interreg Bavaria-Austria Resilient Tourism project (BA0100005), the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences in Tyrol and the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences are committed to developing resilience skills and competencies among employees of tourism businesses and associations. The RiTA microtraining program provides practical expertise to make tourism in the cross-border Alpine region resilient and future-proof – at the individual, company, and regional levels.

A Modern Form of Continuing Education

Digitalized learning increases the effectiveness of training courses and demonstrates the sustainability of acquired knowledge. Complementing the "Resilience Manager in Tourism" course, the mobile app provides further training where practice begins. It offers learning content wherever it's needed, in bite-sized chunks for anytime, anywhere. Short, concise, flexible, and modular.

Microtraining via app is learning on your smartphone, in small steps. The mobile learning concept allows for temporal and spatial flexibility and enables a self-directed and individualized learning experience that, in turn, promotes sustainable knowledge retention. The content is presented in short, concise flashcards and videos that can be accessed anytime, anywhere. Learning progress can also be monitored at any time.

In general, the question sets are designed for interactive learning. All content is easily accessible, can be quickly updated, and scaled both externally and internally. Furthermore, learning progress can be tracked, and learning prompts can be provided where needed.

The Strategy – This is How Learning Works Today

The microtraining method presents the essence of diverse knowledge content in a compact format and reinforces it through short, active learning steps. Traditional learning uses an algorithm for this purpose. The questions are answered in random order. If a question is answered incorrectly, it reappears later – until it is answered correctly three times in a row within the learning unit.

In addition to traditional learning, level-based learning is also offered. In the level-based learning system, the questions are divided into three levels and presented randomly. A break is provided between each level to allow for optimal retention of the material. This is essential for effective and sustainable knowledge acquisition. A final test assesses learning progress, identifies areas for improvement, and suggests further review may be beneficial.
