Backspace: clean up photos

Backspace frees up space on your phone by letting you decide, one photo at a time.

The analysis runs on your device. It finds what takes up room without adding anything: exact duplicates, runs of near-identical shots, the screenshots that piled up, and your heaviest videos. You see how many bytes each category holds before anything is touched.

Nothing is deleted permanently. Everything goes to your phone's trash and stays recoverable for 30 days.

Five ways to sort

Swipe to clean: one photo at a time, left to delete, right to keep. With no limit on swipes.
Exact duplicates: file-for-file copies, grouped together. The best one is kept by default.
Similar photos: bursts and second attempts, grouped by resemblance. You keep the one you want.
Screenshots: the ones you had forgotten.
Large videos: above a threshold you set yourself.

Before every deletion

A confirmation screen shows what is about to go, as a count and in bytes. The button names the number of items and where they are going. You can take any item off the list up to the last moment.

Your photos stay on your phone

No server, no account, no sync. The analysis, the thumbnails and the fingerprints stay on the device. The whole journey works with no connection.

What it costs

Backspace is free. There is no subscription, and there will not be one. No limit on swipes, nothing put out of reach behind a payment. A single purchase removes the ads and opens up one-tap selection; without it, everything stays selectable by hand, without limit.

Twelve languages

French, English, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Arabic, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Simplified Chinese. Arabic is supported right to left, swipe direction included.

Accessibility

Works with TalkBack. Every gesture keeps its button equivalent. System text sizes are followed up to the largest accessibility settings.
