The Odisha Fire & Emergency Service is the state government's primary agency responsible for fire prevention, fire safety regulation, emergency response, rescue operations, and disaster management across Odisha. Established with the objective of protecting lives, property, and public infrastructure from fire and other emergencies, the department has evolved from a traditional firefighting organization into a modern emergency response force equipped to handle diverse situations such as fires, road accidents, floods, cyclones, building collapses, and rescue missions. The department functions under the legal framework of the Odisha Fire Service Act, 1993 and the Odisha Fire Prevention and Fire Safety Rules, 2017, which mandate fire safety compliance for various categories of buildings and occupancies.
The official Odisha Fire & Emergency Service portal serves as a comprehensive digital platform that enables citizens, builders, developers, institutions, and businesses to access fire safety-related services online. Through the portal, users can apply for Fire Safety Recommendations during the planning stage of a project, obtain Fire Safety Certificates after installation of prescribed fire protection systems, renew existing certificates, seek exemptions from plan approval requirements, and apply for temporary structure permissions. The portal also facilitates the issuance of Fire Incident Certificates, copies of fire reports, and licensing services for third-party agencies involved in fire safety installations and audits.
