Many errors are predictable and Dose Chex has a number of features designed to eliminate these sources of error.

Weight range – you can set the weight range to match the range of patients you treat.

Expected values – if you enter an excessively large or small value a warning is shown. Similarly, if the output value is excessively large or small, a warning will also be generated. This helps eliminate error caused by selecting the incorrect units or entering decimal numbers incorrect. The expected values can be customised for each calculator.

Maximum rate of administration- if you configure i.v. drugs with a maximum rate the output will show both the amount you need to administer and the minimum time over which is should be given.
