Review summary

Users praise the app’s effective spaced repetition, native-speaker audio, strong grammar explanations, and professional, non-gamified design — many prefer it to Duolingo. Common complaints center on the paid-only subscription model (and unclear pricing), restricted access/functionality without subscribing, and limited card-review features. Overall, reviewers find it powerful for serious vocabulary and listening practice but note monetization and flexibility issues.
Pros
  • Effective spaced-repetition system that helps retention and daily study habits.
  • High-quality audio from native speakers with varied accents/dialects.
  • Clear grammar explanations and well-structured lessons that build a solid foundation.
  • Clean, professional interface and responsive customer support.
  • Less gamified than competitors (e.g., Duolingo) — many users prefer its serious, learn-at-your-own-pace approach.
Cons
  • Paid-only/subscription model with no free tier; several users object to cost and opaque pricing.
  • Access limitations without subscribing (functionality cut off after trial) and inflexibility to practice more or revisit cards freely.
  • Flashcard-focused design disliked by users wanting more varied exercise types.
  • Limited card management features (e.g., inability to unarchive or freely access cards after ‘done for today’).

Really incredible and legit spaced-repetiton language learning app with real-life pronunciation and a slick interface. Cannot recommend it enough! stop pretending to study with du*ling* and actually learn w/ a real language-learning app.

The only frequency dictionary available for Norwegian language learning I could find to maximize useful vocabulary, and it does spaced repetition to boot. Variety of accents in the audio. I purchased a year on my iPad ($80 in 8/2024, for those complaining there's no price) and then needed to transfer to Android so I can give that iPad to a friend. There's no way to do it myself but their customer service went above and beyond to make it happen--got my progress and subscription moved over.

Sad to see this app go pay to use, would have preferred a "freemium" style like Duolingo. Not the most expensive but for an app that is essentially flashcards, 12usd may not seem worth it to some. One of the reasons I downloaded this app is because of its quick convenience of use so I could fit in a bit of learning every now and again due to my job requiring long hours. I dont think I'd get the usage out of it per day to warrant the costs. Amazing app for those who continue though.

I absolutely love it, I've started learning Norwegian through this app 2 weeks ago and I have been able to have basic conversations with native Norwegians! Only thing I would say is I'd like to be able to unarchive cards in case I need to remember or review something I may have forgotten. And it would make it way easier if I could get the subscription through some place other than the play store because I had to do a big maneuver to actually be able to buy it haha

Not a fan of the flashcard system. The audio is great though. A lot better than most other apps.

Great app. A bit serious but the content is good, particularly the listening. I had a question so contacted them on Facebook and got a reply straight away so very responsive. Perfect to develop vocab, grammar and listening for immersion learning.

Takes a while to get used to it, but clearly it's gonna help massively. It's hard... But thats a good thing

They are decent enough flashcards(that's all this app is, like anki or any other) but you just cut it off completely after a week unless I subscribe for a year at a price point you won't tell me. They told me it was much cheaper than classes, but can't give a dollar value? Regardless I wouldn't expect a flash card app to cost anywhere near an actual language class. EDIT, yikes the fact that the app replied to this, and still won't say what the price is. Guys that's a HUGE red flag for anything.
