Review summary

Users find the Levels app valuable for metabolic health insights and applaud its responsive customer support. However, many reviews report frequent app instability, including crashes and freezing, slow performance, and difficulties with food logging features such as meal entry, editing, and barcode scanning. Syncing issues with glucose monitors and third-party services are common, leading to missing or delayed data. While the app concept is appreciated, users express frustration over bugs and usability that diminish the overall experience, especially given the high subscription cost.
Pros
  • Strong customer support that is responsive and helpful in solving issues.
  • The app provides valuable insights into metabolic health and glucose management.
  • Users appreciate the concept and design, including the connection to real-time CGM data.
  • Effective in helping some users manage blood glucose and understand food impact.
  • Integration with educational resources (like Huberman podcasts) is appreciated.
Cons
  • App is frequently buggy, crashing, freezing, or hanging during use.
  • Food logging is cumbersome, with issues adding, editing, or saving meal entries.
  • Syncing problems with CGM devices and third-party apps like Google Fit and Libre cause data loss.
  • Barcode scanner and custom food entry are unreliable or do not save data properly.
  • App performance is slow, causing delays in interaction and draining battery life.

I love the concept but for my own sanity I can no longer use the CGMs they provide. This is out of their control but the DexCom G7 app needed to sync the CGM will not allow silencing of all alerts and I continue getting woken up in the middle of the night with blaring alarms for lost signal. It even circumvents do not disturb. So the one thing I paid for a year to the Levels app to do I can no longer for my own sanity use it for. Now I have a useless year long subscription to Levels.

App has a lot of bugs -- a waste of money in my annual membership. Buttons to log food don't work no matter how many times it's pressed, and this is one of the most critical tasks to understanding metabolic health! The buttons are non-functional most of the time and sporadically works. Also, the sync with Google Health Connect does not fully work. I've set hydration goals in the Levels app but none of it is being ported from Fitbit even though my steps and exercises are going through.

App was great a yeat ago but they over engineered it. Ive been trying to give it a chance for over 2 months but it is terrible. The ai gets half of it wrong and i waste so much time fighting the app to edit and just manually write my meal.I hate this app. Why cant i just enter foods then compare to different times i ate those foods? At this point paper and pen then manually entering into excell is better and faster. I regret buying a little stock in the company now too. Keep it simple st...d

Great idea and design. still a beta product, hence 2 stars. It is very buggy; usually crashes the majority of times if i start clicking around a lot. Doesn't log water intake. Pulls the incorrect sleep data from Fitbit often overestimating by a couple hours how much I slept. Photo logging is fails most times. Voice logging requires editing every time.

Best customer support of any tech company. I subscribed to Levels so I could get a CGM without a prescription. Every time I have a question or an issue with a sensor, the nice folks at Levels reply to my email in thoughtful, supportive ways that make it clear they understand my problem. And they *always* solve my problems ASAP. Highly recommended.

Levels Customer Support is legit. Their app is not. So arduous to put in your meals. When you enter that you had water, it doesn't count it. It's so buggy, I have to restart it often. For $240 a month, it should work a lot better in my opinion. Update: If the sensor has an error, your levels will incorrectly show a steep drop. The Levels apps sees the drop and return to normal as a spike and negatively impacts your meal or daily score as if you just ate 7 sugar cookies for dinner.

Entering data in this program is time consuming. Half of the time the barcode scanner doesn't read the code. The rest of the time it doesn't know what it is reading. It can't even recognize the barcode for Bai drinks. When I try to enter a custom food or beverage it will not let me save it so I can use it again later. Could use a lot of work. Half the time it doesn't even let me enter the time I spent working out.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND LEVELS! My A1c#s have been in prediabetic range and continued to get worse. I have tried many diets to manage my weight with limited success.Levels has started an eye-opening journey to better metabolic health for me. I am able to see real-time how my body reacts to food and exercise. Using the cgm and app, I'm learning to manage my glucose spikes, which foods my body is struggling with, and I am on the path to better health! Great cust serv. It's expensive, but 100% worth it!

It was working okay, but now it won't. I tried the "beta" picture analysis and it hasn't worked since. I like the company and love its online resources. I'm happy with my CGM. But this app isn't very easy to use even when it is working. Adding meals is cumbersome, and adding them after eating is frustrating because of all the extra editing. I'm glad the CGM came with a clearer app.

Not intuitive and finicky. Adding a workout is an absolute pain. I normally use myfitness pal and that type of program would be much more welcome here. Adding a workout end time never works. For some reason the current time is not the default. You need to choose 'set current'. And when I end a workout the start time is always different then when I set it at the beginning. This then reverts to the initial start time when I save changes but it doesn't save my end time and remains incomplete.
