Features & Capabilities

For over 50 years Bradt Guides have been publishing high-quality travel information about the planet’s most extraordinary places. Now our thoroughly researched travel books are available as interactive digital guides on your mobile device – giving you detailed background information, site recommendations and live mapping.

We are the world’s largest independently owned guidebook publisher, covering over 200 destinations from Albania to Zimbabwe. Our ethos has remained unchanged since Hilary Bradt and her husband, George, wrote the earliest Bradt Guide on a river barge on the Amazon – the first-ever tourist guide to the Inca Trail! We cover destinations often overlooked by other travel publishers, and our guides are known for being more comprehensive than any other series. No templates, no tick lists – and absolutely no AI! Each Bradt digital guide is a one-of-a-kind expression of an expert author’s interests, knowledge and enthusiasm for telling it like it really is.

User Reviews

I've always loved the Bradt Guides, but this app is terrible. I get why it's not possible to copy text, but there's also no option to annotate, which makes it basically useless. The whole subscription idea is completely ridiculous and the prices for a single guide are outrageous (seriously, more expensive than the paperback?!) I can't use my ereader, or print some pages. There's no connection with Google maps or any other other map, so I can't add my own bookmarks. Back to paperbacks, I guess.

The app is pretty basic, particularly if you want to use it as your guidebook while travelling. The lack of highlighting and multiple bookmarks is annoying, as is the fact that text is automatically available offline while maps etc aren't (unless explicitly downloaded chapter by chapter). Also, beware that the app WILL NOT WORK if your phone has an unlocked bootloader, eg on the old phone I take travelling (running Lineage OS)
