We only use and need foreground location services so when a user looks at a map in our app, the map shows where they actually are vs using a default map region which would likely not be relevant to them. This functionality is an important user feature because the app is a location based job service, all jobs on here are in person, so seeing jobs that are not close to a user geographically would not be relevant.

Our app needs foreground location services to enhance your job search experience. When you access the job map, we request location permissions to show available jobs in your immediate area. The foreground location service is active when you are on the job search map, editing your profile (so you can select a preferred work area) and creating an employee account (this is where a user can optionally pick their preferred work area) helping you find nearby opportunities more efficiently.

Users have full control over location access - if you choose not to grant location permissions or the task is interrupted by the system, you'll still have complete access to all map functionality and can manually browse jobs in any area or select a preferred work location. The location service can be disabled at any time through your device settings or by closing the map feature. We have now added map permissions for employer accounts they can use a temporary map to pick areas in which they would like to find workers.
