LexFlex: Word Challenges Android

LexFlex: Word Challenges

5-letter word game: free challenges with friends and every word's ancient roots.

Overview

Features & Capabilities

Words you know. Challenges you don't. And a little history in every word.

LexFlex is a 5-letter word game: six tries to find the hidden word, with tiles that tell you which letters are in the word and which are in the right place. Every game is scored out of 100 for tries and time, so a fast solve beats a slow one.

FREE
• A fresh word every game from a 5,700-word dictionary, or themed lists: Places, Foods, Animals, Sports.
• A hint when you're stuck, and give up when you've had enough.
• Challenges: pick any 5-letter word, add a category hint, and send it to a friend through WhatsApp, Messages or any app. Your tries and time are the target to beat. Results come back as signed links, so scores can't be faked.
• A head-to-head rating with each friend you challenge, a leaderboard and the full history.
• Your own rating, from Apprentice to Lexflex master: every word you play moves it.
• After every word, where it comes from: its Proto-Indo-European root and its cousins in other languages.
• Works between Android and iPhone: a challenge made on either opens on both.

LEXFLEX PLUS (try it free for 14 days, then one purchase, no subscription)
• Daily practice: your day streak, your numbers, the rating chart, a calendar of days played, your score trend, milestones, and a daily reminder.
• My study: your own study book, written in as you play. Each word you play gets a handwritten page with its ancient root and the etymology in the margin.
• Word universes: the root at the centre and its relatives on rings around it, from English, German and Latin to Greek, Russian, Sanskrit, Hindi and Persian, each in its own script with a transliteration and meaning, each read aloud in its own language.
• Honest etymology: uncertain links are marked uncertain, and words borrowed from Sanskrit into languages outside the family, like Malayalam, are labelled as borrowings.
• Ask by voice: "Where does heart come from?", "Say seven in Hindi".

Private by design: no account, no ads, no tracking. Your games, words and ratings stay on your phone. Challenges travel only as links you send yourself.
