User Reviews

Users praise Book's Parallel Translation as a well-designed language-learning reader with strong AI features. They value the AI explanations, etymology, and the integration of multiple translation services, along with customizable prompts. The app shines for reading foreign books, tapping words for definitions, and saving vocabulary to export to Anki. Some note UI/UX polish, indirect cross-device sync gaps for dictionaries, and occasional ads when translating, but overall feedback is highly positive and highlights its utility for learners.
Pros
  • Well-designed product that feels like a high-quality app rather than exploiting users
  • Excellent language learning through reading with AI explanations and etymology
  • Rich AI/translation ecosystem with multiple services (Google Translate, ReversoContext, Gemini, ChatGPT) and customizable AI prompts
  • Great reading experience for foreign books (EPUBs) with accurate translations and handy word-tap dictionary definitions
  • Practical vocabulary tools like saving words and exporting to Anki (no per-page abuse fees reported) and quick dictionary lookups
Cons
  • (No broadly repeated issues) Optional: some users report UI improvements needed and cross-device sync for dictionaries could be better; occasional ads for translations may be a drawback for some users

too good to be free

I am very disappointed with this app. I open a Japanese text, and it speaks most of the words as Chinese, even though that there is a clear context of Japanese language. Both languages use the same hieroglyphs, but I expected the app to choose the proper pronunciation for the language that I am actually learning. Right now this app has zero value for me, even though I purchased the lifetime subscription for it. It might be useful if I would be learning a different language, maybe. But I am not.
