GyLog: Gyro Logger for Video Android

GyLog: Gyro Logger for Video

By: Kumo, Inc. App
Log gyro data for video stabilization in Gyroflow. Works with any camera.

Overview

Features & Capabilities

GyLog turns your phone into an external gyro data logger for video stabilization in Gyroflow.

Record gyroscope and accelerometer motion data at up to 120 Hz with UTC-based timestamps, and export Gyroflow-compatible .gcsv files. Mount your phone on your camera, record a motion log while you shoot, then sync and stabilize your footage in post-production.

WHO IT'S FOR

• Filmmakers using cameras that don't record usable gyro data — including many Nikon, Canon, Fujifilm, Panasonic Lumix and older Sony bodies
• Magic Lantern shooters (such as the Canon EOS M) who want modern, gimbal-like stabilization on vintage gear
• Anyone who wants smooth, stabilized footage without carrying a gimbal

On Android, your phone can even double as an external monitor (using a third-party monitor app with USB/HDMI capture) while GyLog records motion data in the background — one device for monitoring and gyro logging.

KEY FEATURES

• High-rate logging: gyroscope + accelerometer at up to 120 Hz
• UTC timestamps included — accurate time sync with no extra subscription
• Background recording with the screen locked: one session covers every take of your shoot
• Standard .gcsv export, ready to load into Gyroflow
• Share logs via Drive, Files, or any share target
• Checkpoint saving protects long recording sessions

HOW IT WORKS

1. Mount your phone rigidly on your camera
2. Start logging in GyLog and shoot as usual
3. Transfer the .gcsv log and your footage to your computer
4. Load both into Gyroflow, auto-sync, and stabilize

Works with Gyroflow on desktop and with Gyroflow plugins for editors such as DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro.

PRICING

GyLog Pro is a yearly subscription with a 14-day free trial, so you can confirm the workflow fits your camera, your editor, and Gyroflow before paying.

NOTES

• For best results, disable in-camera stabilization (IS/IBIS) while recording and use an appropriate lens profile in Gyroflow.
• Gyroflow is an open-source project. GyLog is an independent app and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Gyroflow team.
