MungLog - Dog Bark Alerts

Use a spare Android phone to detect your dog's barking without a camera, then check alerts and records while you are away.

This Android app is the MungLog collector that stays at home. Install it on the phone that will listen for barking. To review records, open the MungLog web manager at https://munglog.kullstudio.com on the phone or computer you carry with you and sign in there.

The collector analyzes microphone input on the device to find possible barking. It does not identify which individual dog made a sound.

Designed to limit data and network use

- Audio analysis and long-term storage are centered on the collector phone.
- Recordings are not automatically backed up outside the collector.
- Only a recording that a guardian explicitly requests in the web manager is encrypted and relayed for that record's 24-hour review window.
- Statistical records copied to the web manager stay in that browser, and the server does not retain detailed records for long periods.

Important limitations

Detection can be wrong or delayed because of TV audio, vehicles, device placement, network conditions, or the dog's voice. “Strong/repeated sound” and other classifications are reference information based on sound characteristics. MungLog is not an emergency response, security, medical, or behavioral diagnosis service. Check important situations directly.

When you start detection, a foreground service uses the microphone even when you leave the app or turn off the screen. Android shows an ongoing notification while detection is active, and you can stop detection at any time in the app.
