Amber - Save Web Pages Offline

Amber saves pages from its built-in browser to your device, with text, images, styles and fonts, to read offline. Embedded videos and comments aren't saved, and script-driven parts usually don't work.

Saving single pages is free and unlimited. Following links is free up to 1 link away (pages linked from the opened one) and 10 pages per save; a one-time purchase extends it. No ads, no account, no developer server, no analytics SDK.

• Save from Amber's browser or via Share; the address bar also searches DuckDuckGo. Scroll-loaded images are included (some may be missed)
• Read offline, as saved or in article-only view where article text is found (text size, spacing, font, light/dark). Unsaved URLs aren't loaded; links open only to saved pages
• Read aloud the current page's article text (screen off too), with lock screen and notification controls and adjustable speed. On-device voices only
• Follow links within free limits. Failed pages and pages excluded by robots.txt count toward the 10. By default only the opened page's folder and below are followed, so an article may yield one page
• Full-text search (Japanese from two characters, English by whole words only), folders, unread filter, dark theme
• Check if a saved page's original changed; pages saved before 0.3.5 or via links compare from the first check; some sites can't be checked
• Export a page as an HTML file other browsers can open, or all as a ZIP (Amber's format) to import here or on another device with folders, read status and site saves (0.3 or earlier ZIPs: pages only)

■ One-time purchase
Not a subscription; the price is shown in Google Play. It returns on a new device with the same Google account (saved pages may not move). Features added so far come at no extra cost, even for earlier buyers.
• Follow any number of links, or the whole site (stops at the page limit)
• Up to 5,000 pages per save (default 1,000)
• Save speeds Fast and Fastest. They only save time when a site sets a Crawl-delay, or by retrying failed files less (so more may be missing); otherwise speed barely changes
• Site updates: add pages newly linked from the start page or the last 2 saved pages. Others aren't found, changes to pages you have aren't picked up, and script-built links may not work
• Read aloud page after page, with a sleep timer and a pronunciation dictionary

■ Following links: robots.txt and speed
• Places a site disallows in robots.txt are not crawled, even with the purchase or at Fastest
• One site and one page at a time; each page is saved before the next starts
• Between pages, Crawl-delay is followed up to 10 s on Reliable (default; the only one on free), 1 s on Fast, not at all on Fastest, where sites may refuse requests. Files within a page don't wait
• If robots.txt can't be read (server or network error), Amber stays out of that site
robots.txt applies to automatic collection, not to a single page you choose to save.
Amber saves what its browser shows, for you to read again. It doesn't unlock login-only or paywalled content. Saving, browsing and update checks go online to the site (and services it loads), web searches to DuckDuckGo, purchases to Google Play.

■ Limits
• Iframe content (embedded videos, maps, social posts, comments) isn't saved and shows blank. No video saving feature
• Scripts are removed: pages rarely open blank, but tabs, menus and slideshows usually don't work, and notices shown at save time may stay
• Styles added by scripts, and canvas or Shadow DOM content, may look broken or be missing
• Each page's files are fetched again for saving (up to 6 at once), so images from sites that refuse automated requests, and files over 20 MB (100 MB per page), may be missing
• No PDF or file downloads
• Logins from other browsers aren't shared; shared URLs reopen in Amber's browser
• Uninstalling deletes saved pages; export a ZIP first to restore them (settings and dictionary not included)
• Screens are in English and Japanese only
