Hexagonal - Chess Variants

Hexagon Chess for smart people. Let's boost your IQ with chess.

Features & Capabilities

Hexagonal chess refers to a group of chess variants played on boards composed of hexagon cells. The best known is Gliński's variant, played on a symmetric 91-cell hexagonal board.

Since each hexagonal cell not on a board edge has six neighbor cells, there is increased mobility for pieces compared to a standard orthogonal chessboard. (E.g., a rook has six natural directions for movement instead of four.) Three colours are typically used so that no two neighboring cells are the same colour, and a colour-restricted game piece such as the orthodox chess bishop usually comes in sets of three per player in order to maintain the game's balance.
I'm trying to create an application that allows a player of any level to enjoy the game.

Interface is simple and pretty good but many features work wrong. You can't switch off sounds. Pawns move incorrect: two cells always instead of one cell and two for the first move. And yesterday I gave a bug: a pawn after promotion made a second move immediately

I wish this had local play instead of multiplayer just being online. I'd like to see challenges similar to the ones we see in regular chess, like hexagonal chess puzzles. I think this as a concept is really underrated. Having three bishops really changes the game. What I really enjoy is the movement of each piece can be seen in dots instead of lines. Something I'm noticing is there's no undo option, and that I'd like to have because of accidental moves.
