Features & Capabilities

Simple Luach is a lightweight Chrome extension that shows Jewish dates and Zmanim. It also helps you locate nearby minyans, synagogues, and eruvs on a built-in map, with GoDaven.com providing the information. A companion web app at https://therekosher.com lets you search for kosher places and minyans worldwide, while in-app payments support donations.

On first launch, your location is detected automatically. If GPS is unavailable, you can set your location manually on the map (long-tap to set). The extension supports translations and credits contributors. Note: the app is a standalone project and is not responsible for external information from GoDaven.com.

The app is valued for reliability, practicality, and a comprehensive set of zmanim with useful reminders. Recurrent downsides are UI/layout readability issues, missing or inaccurate date data and holidays, subscription/data-loss problems, and a shift to viewing only the current day, plus occasional mis-timed reminders.

Pros

Reliable and always there when you need it.
Very practical and useful with a wide array of zmanim and calendar dates & features.
Pop-up reminders for zmanim with customizable times (Settings).
Added features such as Minyan, Eruv, and a davening direction compass.
Intuitive, legible, and easy to find needed information.

Cons

Confusing/poor UI layout with overlapping text and readability issues; scrolling/readable area problems.
Missing or inaccurate date data (e.g., Shabbat end time and Havdalah, some holidays or specific dates like Tu BiShvat 2026).
Data/subscription problems, including lost dates/yahrzeits and subscription status confusion.
Shift from showing multiple coming days to only the current day, limiting planning.
Occasional mis-timed reminders (e.g., candle lighting on non-holidays).

Exactly what I was looking for. Easy to use and has everything I need. Numerals for Hebrew dates is a big plus. Wish ads could be removed with one time purchase. Also would be great if you could resize
