About The UPSC IAS Exam:
The Civil Services Examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). It is one of the toughest exams in the country since every year thousands of candidates appear for the examination.
The exam is conducted every year for the recruitment in the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Revenue Service (IRS), etc. The UPSC syllabus is common for all these services.

The Civil Services Examination is conducted in three phases:
- Phase 1: Civil Services Examination (Prelims) which is an objective exam. It has two compulsory papers of 200 marks each.
- Phase 2: Civil Services Examination (Mains) which is a descriptive exam. It has 9 papers. Out of these 9 papers, 7 are considered for final ranking. These 7 papers are of 250 marks each.
- Phase 3: Personal Interview for Personality Test
