KanjiBoard: Write Kanji

Practice Japanese kanji handwriting in a quiet, focused space. KanjiBoard combines stroke-order animations, feedback on your writing, JLPT kanji lists and an offline Japanese dictionary.

LEARN BY WRITING
Watch each kanji's stroke order, then write it yourself. Get feedback on stroke order, direction, placement and relative size. Trace a reference or write from memory, with optional drawing guides and a stroke counter.

WORK THROUGH KANJI LISTS
Start with JLPT N5 and progress toward N1, choose Joyo or Jinmeiyo kanji, or explore a catalog of more than 6,400 characters. Browse a simple grid or swipe through kanji one at a time. See which characters you have completed and which earned a perfect freehand score.

REVIEW WITH SPACED REPETITION
Progression introduces unlearned kanji. Practice reviews the kanji you have completed. Choose a daily goal or unlimited review, track your streak and set repetitions separately for learning and practice.

LOOK UP READINGS AND MEANINGS
Explore kun, on and name readings, English meanings, vocabulary and example sentences with hiragana readings where available. Draw an unfamiliar kanji to find close matches, or search by character, reading or meaning.

STUDY OFFLINE
Handwriting practice, your kanji lists and the bundled dictionary work offline. An optional Japanese handwriting model downloads once to improve on-device recognition. Support purchases and purchase recovery need an internet connection.

MAKE SPACE FOR PRACTICE
Use portrait or landscape on phones and tablets, with left- and right-handed layouts. Adjust tracing, reference visibility, practice grids, repetitions, sounds and haptics. Export or import a KanjiBoard backup to keep your learning progress and settings.
