User Reviews

SIMULACRA 2 is praised for its immersive storytelling, multiple endings, engaging puzzles, and quality graphics, offering a rich horror experience without ads or microtransactions. However, many users report issues with overly fast timed texts that hinder reading choices, frequent bugs causing freezes and regressions in progress, and limited saving options. Some elements like unskippable videos and dialogue inconsistencies affect immersion. Overall, players find it a compelling game worth playing despite technical setbacks.
Pros
  • Engaging and compelling story with multiple endings that encourage replayability.
  • High-quality graphics and well-crafted horror atmosphere.
  • No ads or microtransactions, providing a one-time purchase experience.
  • Interesting puzzle and investigation mechanics that challenge players.
  • Characters and dialogues that add depth to the game experience.
Cons
  • Timed text messages are too fast, making it difficult to read and choose responses.
  • Frequent bugs causing freezing, crashing, or unresponsive controls leading to loss of progress.
  • Lack of sufficient saving options; autosave is inconsistent and no manual save available.
  • Some immersion-breaking elements like repeated unskippable videos and unrealistic clue features.
  • Occasional vague or forced dialogue responses reducing immersion.

A wholehearted attempt to improve upon Simulacrum with better graphics and more features unfortunately pulls me out my immersion. A majority of the charm of Simulacrum was how realistic it felt (aside from some minor dialogue hiccups) and this felt like a reversal. Also, the clue feature makes no sense to me. My suspension of disbelief was unable to go that far. All in all, worse than the first.. but not bad, overall. Worth a play.

Really makes you appreciate playing a game that didn't cost much up front and then has no ads or in game purchases to make and absolutely none of those annoying puzzles to continue the story! The game play was really good, got to know the characters, but the ending was very anticlimactic, regardless of what ending I did. That was my only complaint. I actually wish they would do a game now with a different type of killer. But all in all job well done. I now refuse to play those other games!
