SonosCast Android

SonosCast

By: ITCJW App
Stream supported Android audio to Sonos speakers over Wi-Fi — locally.

Overview

Features & Capabilities

Stream supported audio from your Android device to a compatible Sonos speaker on the same Wi-Fi network. SonosCast works directly inside your local network — with no account, ads, or tracking.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Connect your phone and speaker to the same Wi-Fi network.
2. Open SonosCast and select a discovered speaker.
3. Start casting and approve Android's audio-capture prompt.
4. Play audio in an app that permits Android audio capture.

CONTROLS

• Adjust the speaker volume directly in SonosCast.
• Stop casting in the app at any time. If Android is allowed to show the notification, pause and stop actions are also available there.
• Optionally, the phone's volume buttons can control the selected speaker during an active cast. This requires separate activation of the Android Accessibility Service and is off by default.

LOCAL AND DATA-MINIMIZING

• No user account or sign-in.
• No advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.
• No audio upload to the developer and no cloud relay.
• The audio stream is processed temporarily in memory and is not saved as a file.
• Phone-to-speaker communication stays inside the local network.

REQUIREMENTS

• Android 10 or newer.
• Phone and a compatible Sonos speaker on the same Wi-Fi network.
• The network must allow direct device connections and speaker discovery. Guest Wi-Fi, access-point isolation, or separate VLANs may prevent connection.

IMPORTANT LIMITATIONS

Android does not allow universal capture of all device audio. Apps can block capture of their playback. DRM-protected content, calls, notification and alarm sounds, and other audio sources that do not permit capture may therefore remain silent.

Wi-Fi and speaker buffering create an audible delay. SonosCast is not intended for lip-synced video, live performance, or musical instruments.

The optional volume-button control uses Android's Accessibility Service only to forward volume-up and volume-down button presses to the selected speaker during an active cast. SonosCast does not read screen or text content and does not store or share key data.
