The operative starts moving automatically, and I control the direction with a simple swipe. Weapons fire on their own; my job is to keep the operative alive by dodging the swarm, grabbing glowing experience gems that drop from fallen enemies, and choosing the right upgrades when the level‑up screen appears. The first few waves are manageable – slow zombies and scattered mutants – but the background shifts as the operative pushes deeper: from a bombed‑out plaza to a dark subway tunnel, then to a military base overrun with infected soldiers.

Every time the operative collects enough experience, a selection of upgrades appears. I choose carefully – a wider attack range, a second projectile, a shield that blocks one hit, or a speed boost that helps outrun the faster enemies. Some choices combine into powerful evolutions: fire rounds plus attack speed creates a flamethrower effect, and magnetism plus range turns the operative into a walking vortex that pulls in enemies and gems alike. The real turning point comes when I survive three waves without taking damage – the screen flashes gold, and my multiplier doubles for the next sixty seconds. Hidden among the wreckage are supply crates; opening one yields bonus experience, a temporary buff, or a “surge charge” that instantly fills a quarter of my evolution meter.

Every fifth wave brings a boss – a massive brute that takes dozens of hits and spawns smaller enemies as it moves. I must weave through the chaos, prioritising the boss while clearing enough grunts to keep the experience flowing. If the operative falls, the run ends, but each attempt earns tokens that I can spend on permanent upgrades between runs – increased starting health, faster movement, or a passive gold multiplier. Daily directives appear on the mission board, like “survive fifteen minutes” or “defeat three bosses in one run”, and completing them rewards bonus tokens and revival passes. The operative’s loadout grows with each successful extraction, and new weapons unlock – a lightning arc, a homing missile, or a spinning blade that orbits the operative.

After completing the main campaign of eighty waves, I unlock Endless Siege – an infinite mode where enemy speed and density increase indefinitely, testing my dodging and upgrade choices without any penalty for failure. A training simulation lets me test different upgrade combinations without risking a run. My evolution meter fills with every gem collected, and when it overflows, the Golden Overdrive activates – forty seconds of triple rewards, where every defeated enemy leaves a sticky experience gem that stays for the next round. After that, I earn a spin on the Commander's Wheel – four tiers (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond). The Diamond pool starts at two hundred and fifty times the bet and grows with contributions from commanders worldwide. The wheel spins, the monitor flashes green, and the prize is added to the operative's stash. I lean back in my chair and watch the next wave spawn – the horde never rests, and neither do we."
