WiFi Analyzer: Speed & Signal Android

WiFi Analyzer: Speed & Signal

See every Wi-Fi network, find the best channel, and test your real speed.

Overview

Features & Capabilities

Find out what is actually wrong with your Wi-Fi — and what to do about it.

WiFi Analyzer turns the invisible radio around you into something you can read
at a glance. See every network in range, learn which channel is jammed, walk
your home to find the dead spots, and measure the speed you are really getting.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

Diagnose your connection
See the live strength of the network you are on, updating every second, with a
trend graph so you can watch it rise and fall as you move. Link rate, channel,
estimated signal-to-noise and co-channel congestion are all on one screen, in
plain language as well as numbers.

Browse every network nearby
A full list of the access points around you: name, signal, band, channel,
channel width, security type and hardware maker. Search by name or address,
filter by band, and sort by signal, name, channel or band. Tap any network for
the full technical picture, including an estimated distance and the other
networks sharing its channel.

Find the least congested channel
Wi-Fi channels are shared. When neighbouring routers pile onto the same one,
everybody slows down. The channel map scores every candidate channel by how
much interference it actually carries — weighted by signal strength and how much
the channels overlap — and tells you the quietest one in a single sentence you
can act on. Three views: a spectrum chart of every network, a congestion score
per channel, and a plain list grouped by channel.

Survey your coverage
Walk around your home, office or yard and tap the map wherever you are standing.
Each tap records the real signal at that spot, building a picture of where your
Wi-Fi is strong and where it dies. Best, average and dead-spot counts tell you
whether the router needs moving or the far bedroom needs help.

Test your real speed
A genuine download, upload, latency and jitter measurement using multiple
parallel connections, with a live gauge and a history of past runs so you can
compare before and after you change something.

STRAIGHT ANSWERS, NOT JARGON
Every signal reading is labelled in words as well as decibels — very strong,
strong, fair, weak, very weak. A built-in help section explains what the numbers
mean, why the scan button has a cooldown, and why Android asks for a location
permission for a Wi-Fi app.

ABOUT THE LOCATION PERMISSION
Android classifies the list of nearby Wi-Fi networks as location-revealing
information, so every version of Android requires the location permission before
it will give any app the results of a Wi-Fi scan. That is the only reason this
app asks for it. It never uses GPS, never works out where you are, and never
stores or sends your position anywhere.

YOUR DATA STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE
All the analysis happens on your phone. Network names, addresses, signal
readings and survey points are never uploaded. There are no accounts and nothing
to sign up for. The only time the app talks to the internet is when you tap
Start on the speed test, which transfers throwaway data to a public speed-test
server to measure your connection.

NOTES
Signal-to-noise, MCS and maximum link rate are estimates derived from what
Android exposes, and are labelled as estimates throughout. Android limits every
app to a few Wi-Fi scans per minute to save battery, so the app shows a
countdown to the next available scan rather than pretending to refresh. Support
for 6 GHz depends on your phone's hardware.
