Shadow Maze: Dark Labyrinth

A maze in the dark, and your light is running out.

You are a light in a black labyrinth. The exit is a green glow somewhere ahead. Between you and it: walls you cannot see, a maze you have to read by torchlight, and a lantern that burns down second by second.

THE LIGHT IS THE RESOURCE

Every step costs light. Hold the Beacon and you see far but burn fast. Drop to the Ember and you crawl through a bare halo that costs almost nothing. Candles scattered through the maze give some of it back. Opening the map costs light too, so in this game even looking is a decision.

Run out, and the level starts again.

The Hearth — the light runs out
The Tangle — the right hand no longer solves it
The Forge — light opens doors
The Hollow — your light betrays you from afar
The Wait — standing still opens the way out
The Rift — the floor gives way

Each world teaches one rule alone before crossing it with everything you already know. No tutorials, no walls of text: by the time a rule can kill you, you have already seen what it does.

SOMETHING IS HUNTING YOU

From the fourth world on, there is a shadow in the dark. Your light protects you up close and gives you away from a distance, so the same dial that hides you from it hides it from you. You get one burst to push it away, and it costs light like everything else.

ZEN MODE

The same 68 mazes with the light never draining, the map free and no way to fail. For when you want the labyrinth and not the pressure. Every level you unlock in Beacon mode is already open in Zen.

STARS

Three stars for the light you have left when you arrive, not for how fast you were. Crossing into a new world is paid for in stars, so finishing a world is not the same as playing it well.

NOT A SINGLE DRAWING

There is no art in Shadow Maze, and that is the art direction. Every texture, the darkness itself, the drifting smoke and the low rumble underneath it are generated by code while you play. Nothing here was imported from a file.
