The app is free for an initial trial period, during which you can make 3 bird identifications plus 5 reference look-ups. After that a one-off charge of AU$ 6.99 (£3.33) is made for continued use. This is a once only charge, with no subscription.

Heard a bird and want to know what it is? Just tap the red button to make a recording and ChirpOMatic will do the rest.

The app will check your recording against a library of Australian birds and provide you with a match along with a photo of the bird and a clear cut description of the sound. Your recordings are stored along with the date, time and location and can be shared using AirDrop, WhatsApp, Messages, or Email.

Great for the outdoors - whether unwinding in your backyard or city park, hiking through bushland, or even on a road trip in the outback.

Just been working with them to iron out a problem with the Android version, which now seems to work perfectly... magically even! Super simple to use. Easy to send feedback to keep the system learning more.
