Review summary
Pros
- Innovative concept aimed at analyzing light spectra using a smartphone camera.
- Works well and produces insightful results when calibrated correctly, especially with fluorescent light sources.
- Useful for basic spectrum metering when the conditions are ideal.
Cons
- Calibration requires specific light sources like fluorescent and gas lamps, which are outdated and not readily available to many users.
- Does not recognize or calibrate properly with common modern light sources; app often fails to detect fluorescent lights despite needing them for calibration.
- User interface is poor—lacking camera preview, no clear instructions, and it is difficult to navigate or back out of the app.
- Inconsistency and inaccuracy in readings due to automatic camera features and IR filters in phone cameras affecting measurements.
- App crashes or freezes frequently, reducing reliability and usability.

| 2023-10-05 | This app is ingenious. I think the developers are on to something here. After lots of effort and lots of trials and errors, I finally got this app to work for me. I couldn't get consistent results with my homemade contraption, but I did get it to work. My suggestion is they are going to have to make-and-sell the adapter that fits on the cell phone. Next, they will have to find a way to calibrate the app to adjust for different cell phone cameras. This way, the user will get good results. | ||

| 2023-02-28 | Does not work. Placed diffraction grating over lens, aimed at fluoro, pressed "Calibrate" and it reported fluoro light does not exist. Tried several lights in the home. Rotated the grating at angles to see if this made a difference Nope. | ||

| 2022-06-23 | Could have been a useful tool. A wasted opportunity. The calibration procedure requires you to point the camera at a flourescent light and then at a gas lamp. It's 2022. I don't have any gas lamps lying around and my last CFL was replaced years ago. | ||

| 2022-05-31 | Needs to point on several light sources for calibration like fluorescent light, gas lamp... I stopped at gas lamp, Where will I get gas lamp in this age. | ||

| 2021-03-22 | Garbage. Would even see a florescent light to calibrate it. And froze up after not seeing a light. Had to close app from back ground. | ||
