The Canvas Teacher Android app suffers from severe stability and performance problems—crashing, freezing, and slow loading—especially in Speedgrader. Updates frequently regress functionality. Users also face login/access problems and missing gradebook features. While the concept is strong and some users find it intuitive and useful for grading on the go, the current experience is largely unusable for many, particularly with large classes or busy teaching schedules.

Pros

The concept of mobile grading and urgent notices is valued by users.
The app is intuitive and user-friendly when it functions.
It remains a useful grading tool that enables grading on the go despite bugs.

Cons

Frequent crashes, freezes, and slow performance across devices, with long load times.
Speedgrader is unreliable for large classes, including slow loading, failing to load next submissions, and navigation glitches.
Updates often introduce regressions or break functionality, making the app worse after new versions.
Login/access issues on mobile (sometimes cannot log in or must use a browser).
Gradebook visibility issues (inability to view grades or access essential grading features) and other missing/broken core features.

Recent reviews

Worse than the already bad web version. Expect constant freezes and crashes. Plus, it's run by a vendor that hides news of security breeches...until hackers take down the whole thing *globally*. 🤦🏻‍♂️
