Review summary

Forgotten: D&D style text RPG offers a fun and immersive D&D-inspired experience with good gameplay and replayability. Users appreciate the compelling story and developer engagement. However, many are frustrated by the short length, paywall after two free chapters, spelling and grammar errors, confusing RNG mechanics, and some bugs. While fans of text RPGs find it enjoyable, improvements in polish, length, and payment model could enhance appeal.
Pros
  • Fun and engaging D&D style text RPG experience
  • Story is immersive, well written, and coherent with proper narration
  • Good gameplay mechanics with multiple story scenarios and replayability
  • Affordable price for full game compared to similar games
  • Developer responsiveness and intent to improve the game
Cons
  • Only first two chapters are free, with a paywall for the rest which some consider a money grab
  • Numerous spelling, grammar, and wording errors distracting from the experience
  • Game is very short, taking only a few hours to finish
  • Randomness/RNG in stat checks is confusing and can result in frequent failures
  • Some bugs and glitches, including issues with chapter progression and achievements

the need to pay is fair enough (makes sense like the first chapter is a demo version or something)but the story does need to be made longer if we are gonna pay. and maybe make point requirements (like you have to have high enough stats for something to succeed) instead of RNG because it can be frustrating. but ive liked the story and it is a good text RPG overall👍

Great concept - but I would direct you to Wizard's Choice and Eldrum instead. The story and writing are poor. Your choices don't appear (in Chapter 4) to really make a huge difference. And there are TONS of typos. I am not a grammar or spelling snob, but it's so bad that it's really distracting. As if someone typed it as fast as possible or used AI just to crank it out and monetize it. That said, it's cheap and can help scratch the itch if you've already tried the other story books I mention
