14 calculators: grinding, enzymes, clarification, evaporation and crystallization
Calculation tool for sugar mills. Solve on your cell phone the calculations that used to be done on paper or on a sheet of paper left on the office computer.
FOURTEEN CALCULATORS
LABORATORY AND CONVERSIONS
• Conversion
Converts key operating units (temperature, pressure, flow rate, mass, volume, concentration, energy, etc.).
• Purity
Obtains apparent purity (Pol/Brix) and allows for real-time evaluation of process quality.
• Density
Calculates the density of juice, syrup, or molasses from °Brix and temperature, useful for balances and dosing.
• Industrial Yield
Calculates industrial yield and kg of sugar per ton of cane from shift production, with overall recovery if the Pol% of cane is entered.
MILLING AND EXTRACTION
• Milling
Calculates pol extraction, reduced extraction, fiber imbibition, and fiber-to-bagasse balance based on data from the mill tandem.
ENZYMATIC TREATMENT
• Dextranase
Calculates enzyme dosage against dextran in the juice: pump flow rate, grams per hour, and daily consumption based on juice flow and target dosage.
• Alpha-amylase
Calculates enzyme dosage against starch in the juice, using the same pump flow rate, grams per hour, and daily consumption calculations.
SWEET JUICE CLARIFICATION
• Phosphoric Acid
Calculates acid flow rate based on the natural P2O5 content of the juice and the target concentration. It provides the result in liters per hour, liters per minute, and milliliters per minute, allowing you to calibrate the dosing pump directly with a graduated cylinder and stopwatch. It correctly converts between P2O5 and H3PO4, which is where people most often make mistakes.
• Lime Slurry
It converts the Baumé degrees measured in the tank to the actual CaO concentration, and from there to the slurry flow rate and the daily consumption of quicklime. It considers the lime purity and slaking efficiency.
• Flocculant
It calculates the dosage in ppm based on the juice mass, using the flow rate of the stock solution and the flow rate applied after online dilution. It also calculates how long each batch in the preparation tank lasts and alerts you if the polymer maturation time is not reached.
• Jar Testing
It tells you how many milliliters of test solution to add to each jar to simulate the ppm you want to evaluate. It scores the six jars based on turbidity, settling velocity, and sludge volume, indicates the optimal dosage, and alerts you when the result is unreliable because the optimum fell outside the tested range or the curve was flat. The calculated dosage is then easily transferred to the flocculant calculator.
EVAPORATION
• Evaporation
Calculates evaporated water, steam economy, and the Brix of syrup in a multi-effect evaporator (3, 4, or 5 effects), based on clarified juice and steam feed.
CRYSTALLIZATION
• Sucrose Solubility
Calculates the saturation level (supersaturation coefficient) based on Brix, purity, and temperature, including adjustments for impurities.
• Pans
Calculates the supersaturation coefficient, crystal percentage, and S-J-M yield of a pan, along with the massecuite, required liquor, and water evaporated in the pan.
WORKS OFFLINE
All calculations occur on your phone. The app doesn't require internet access, so it works equally well in the lab, in the cane field, or in airplane mode.
NO DATA COLLECTION
It collects nothing. No ads, no trackers, no accounts, no registration. The values you enter do not leave the phone.
EACH CALCULATION SHOWS ITS PROCESS
Below each result, you will find the density used, mass flow rates, and intermediate conversions, allowing you to verify the number before entering it into the equipment. Warnings indicate when a value falls outside the usual ranges and explain why it matters.
WARNING
Default values are starting points, not recommendations. Lime demand and flocculant dosage must be determined by titration and jar testing with juice from each harvest.
