Ember: Video Chat, New Friends

Ember is a social app for making new friends through video calls and one-to-one chat with people near you. Ember is made by INA Company for adults 18 and over, in English, Korean, Japanese and Vietnamese. Signing up and browsing are free; video calls and some messages and gifts use Points.

Instead of messages that fade out after a few replies, see the person and talk for a minute. Voice and expression tell you far more, far faster.

■ See who is online
People with the app open right now appear first. No waiting for a reply.

■ Video call in seconds
When it feels right, start a live video call. Each person's per-minute rate in Points is shown on their profile before you call.

■ People who share your interests
People who like what you like come first, so you never have to invent an opening line.

■ Nearby, and worldwide
Start with people close to you, or talk to someone in another country. Translate any message with one tap, which makes it easy to make friends abroad or practice a language.

■ Message first if you prefer
Not ready for a call? Send a message first. You can send photos and short videos too.

■ Gifts
Send a gift in a conversation when a message isn't enough.

■ Built for trust
· Every account verifies a phone number by SMS at sign-up.
· Photo verification — members who match their profile photo against a live selfie get a verified badge.
· Block and report at any time. Reports are reviewed by a person, not an automated system.
· Calls are never recorded. Screenshots and screen recording are blocked on screens that show other people.

■ Who uses Ember
· People who want someone to talk to
· People looking for friends in their own neighborhood
· People who want to practice a language with a native speaker
· People who would rather talk face to face than trade texts
