The SOLAR app serves as both an educational tool and a practical utility for managing sun exposure. It uses the device's GPS to retrieve current and forecasted UV index data specific to the user's location, assisting in estimating daily sun protection requirements.

The app is supported by a backend database of sunscreen products, which can be accessed by scanning a product's barcode. This database provides detailed information on the duration of protection each sunscreen offers, including when it needs to be reapplied. It also includes data on the ingredients within each sunscreen, with a focus on their environmental and human health impacts.

Additionally, the app includes a section dedicated to articles covering sunscreen-related topics.

Currently, the primary language of the content is English, but translations into multiple languages are in development.
