Standards are a practical tool designed for investigators (detectives), prosecutors, investigating judges and judges.

They provide a balanced and sound approach to the application of the CCP, taking into account both the need for effective pre-trial investigation and the need to ensure human rights.

Also, in order to improve the interaction between the investigator (detective) and the prosecutor, and the proper functioning of the institution of the investigating judge, they have a clear division of roles and functions of these professional participants in criminal proceedings.

The standards are developed by a group of lawyers, which includes investigators, detectives, prosecutors, judges, academics and experts.
