User Reviews

TV Rain's Android app is valued for its readable, text-based news and stable performance, serving as a strong alternative to YouTube in Russia with censorship resilience. However, a VPN is often required to use it, Chromecast/Android TV support is lacking, and users report mobile sign-in problems and a slow startup experience. Overall, it's a useful, important news app with room to improve accessibility and onboarding.

Pros

Useful, text-friendly news format that makes headlines easy to skim
Stable and reliable performance; the app works without problems
Strong YouTube alternative in Russia, offering access to news with fewer restrictions
Resilience to censorship and ongoing support from developers/community

Cons

Requires VPN to function; no access without VPN
Not available on Chromecast with Android TV
Occasional login issues on mobile (Google sign-in) and rough initial loading experience
