MapRoam

MapRoam is a practical mapping and coordinate application designed for field work, map inspection, coordinate conversion and GNSS quality checking.

The app combines essential field tools in one interface, including map-based point selection, approximate distance and bearing calculation, KML/KMZ visualization, point-line-polygon drawing tools, coordinate conversion workflows, height information and Zone/DOM checks.

MapRoam is useful for users who need a simple but capable map tool for field reconnaissance, location checking, route orientation, basic GIS inspection and coordinate-based work.

Key Features

Map Viewing
Switch between different map base layers such as standard map, topo/terrain view and satellite imagery. This helps users inspect locations with different visual backgrounds depending on their field needs.

KML/KMZ Support
Open KML and KMZ files and view point, line and polygon objects directly on the map. This is useful for checking field boundaries, routes, survey points, project areas and exported GIS data.

Drawing Tools
Create points, lines and polygons on the map. You can name drawn objects and use them for simple field planning, route marking, location notes or area checks.

Export Tools
Export created or loaded objects as KML and CSV files. This allows users to save field data and use it later in mapping, GIS or office workflows.

Coordinate Conversions
Use coordinate conversion tools for decimal degrees, DMS, Web Mercator, WGS84, TUREF/ITRF and ED50 workflows. The conversion screen is designed to support practical field use with clear input and output values.

3° / 6° Central Meridian Support
MapRoam supports separate source and target central meridian selection for coordinate transformations. This makes it more flexible for workflows involving 3-degree and 6-degree projection systems.

Zone / DOM Information
Display UTM Zone, 6-degree central meridian and Turkey 3-degree DOM information where applicable. This helps users quickly understand which projection zone or central meridian is relevant for a selected location.

GNSS Quality Information
When supported by the device, MapRoam can display GPS accuracy, satellite-related information and DOP values. These indicators can help users make a basic pre-check before field measurements.

Height Information
The app includes support for GPS ellipsoidal height, approximate orthometric height and geoid-related information infrastructure. This is designed as a practical reference tool for field use.

Basic Navigation
Select a target point on the map and view approximate distance and direction information. This is intended for simple field orientation, not turn-by-turn road navigation.

Accuracy may depend on device GNSS hardware, signal quality, satellite visibility, environment, map source, coordinate system selection and user input.
