OneLine: One Line a Day

OneLine is a journal you write one line at a time. One open text field per day, up to 280 characters, saved as you type. Miss a day and nothing happens, because there is no streak counter to break.

Most journal apps ask for more than you have. A prompt to answer, a mood to score, a run of days to protect. OneLine asks for one line, and on the days you have nothing, you skip it and the app says nothing about it.

People who have downloaded three journal apps and abandoned all three, because each one turned writing into something you could fail at.

What you get for free

• One open text field per day, up to 280 characters, saved as you type
• A month calendar where written days carry a small ink underline, and blank days look the same minus the line (no red dots, no warnings)
• The year scroll: every line you have written this year, read top to bottom
• An evening reminder, off by default, quietly worded if you switch it on
• Works offline. Your lines are written to your phone first
• A recovery code so you can move your lines to a new phone

What premium adds

• A photo on any line
• Previous years in the year scroll, so you can read back across every year you have kept
• Search across every line you have written
• Export your lines to a paper-styled PDF

Premium is a subscription, monthly or annual. Prices are shown in your own currency inside the app, and you can cancel anytime in Google Play.

Everything above the premium list is free forever, with no entry cap and no trial clock. Writing your line, keeping every line, and reading this year back are not paid features.

What is deliberately not here

• No streak counter. Not hidden, not private, not ever
• No AI. The field is empty until you write in it
• No mood scores, no emoji pickers
• No weekly insight dashboards
• No social feed. Nothing you write is visible to anyone else
• No ads
• No mental health claims. This is a notebook, not a therapist

Privacy

There is no sign-in. No email, no password, no Google account. The app makes an anonymous id on your phone and that is the whole account.

Your lines are stored on your device and synced to a database scoped to that anonymous id. We never read them. We do not sell data. There is no third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK in the app at all. Photos, if you add them, are resized on your phone before upload.

From settings you can delete every line on the device, and separately delete the cloud account along with its photos and your recovery code.
