User Reviews

Users appreciate the app's effective Bluetooth control and helpful preset/custom lighting scenes, enhancing their photography experience. However, major issues include the app only controlling one light at a time, persistent background running, intrusive permission requests for location and files, frequent crashes, and forced account creation with mandatory ads. These problems lead to frustration and concerns over privacy and usability, despite the good hardware quality of the lights themselves.
Pros
  • Effective Bluetooth connection to GVM lights for remote control.
  • Useful presets and ability to create custom lighting scenes.
  • No mandatory ads or account creation initially as per some reviews.
  • Can store and restore custom lighting settings easily.
  • Physically well-made lights that are enhanced by app control.
Cons
  • App often connects to only one light at a time; switching between multiple lights requires disconnecting first.
  • App runs persistently in the background with a non-dismissible notification, causing battery drain.
  • Requires excessive permissions such as GPS location and file access, raising privacy concerns.
  • App frequently crashes or bugs out when selecting scenes or controlling lights, including showing "null" light names.
  • Forced account creation and appearing advertisements frustrate users, deteriorating user experience.

Set up was ok... connects to the lights well. But when I select "scene", it shuts the app down. I'm using a Samsung Fold 5 so I'm not sure if the issues are device specific or across other devices also. I think i may be missing out on using some of the light features due to this bug.

I think this app has been updated. Using for the first time today and it worked very well. None of the issues of other reviews which I was really worried about. Looks pretty good and worked great with my GVM light. Has some great preset effects for my tube light with option to make custom presets as well. Time will tell how well it works consistently but for now definitely worth 5 stars. Thank you
