Gowalko: City Walking Tours

Put your phone in your pocket and walk the city. Gowalko shows you the way from one landmark to the next, and when you reach a stop, the guide starts talking.

No group to keep up with. No meeting point at 10 am. You start when you want, wherever you are standing, and stop for coffee whenever you like.

WHAT A WALK LOOKS LIKE
• Pick a city, then a walk. Each one shows its stops, its length and roughly how long it takes.
• Press start. The route is drawn through the streets, not across them.
• Walk. At each stop you get the story of the place: who built it, what happened there, what to look at.
• Skip a stop, take a detour, come back later. The walk follows you, not the other way round.

MADE FOR PEOPLE ON FOOT
• Directions for walkers: lanes, squares and footbridges, not car routes
• The walk keeps running with the screen off, and lives on your lock screen
• Download a walk before you leave and it still guides you with no signal
• Need a toilet, a pharmacy or a cash machine mid-walk? Find one nearby without losing your place
• Build your own walk: pick the places you want and Gowalko puts them in walking order
• A short quiz at the end of a stop, if you like that sort of thing

WHERE
Walks in cities across Europe, North Africa and Asia, including Lucerne, Venice, Rome, Istanbul, Athens, Lyon, Amsterdam and Marrakech. New walks are added all the time.

FREE, AND WHAT PREMIUM ADDS
Browsing is free: every city, every walk, every stop and its story. With a free account you can walk each city's featured walk from start to finish, hear two stops read aloud each month, and play every quiz.

Gowalko Premium is a yearly subscription. It unlocks the audio guide at every stop, every walk in every city, and walk downloads. The price is shown in your currency before you pay. It renews automatically each year until you cancel, which you can do at any time in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Premium until the end of the year you paid for.

GOOD TO KNOW
The stories and narration are written with the help of AI from public sources such as OpenStreetMap and Wikipedia. We check them for sense, not line by line, so treat them as a knowledgeable friend rather than a history book. Spot a mistake? Every stop has a way to tell us.

Routes come from OpenStreetMap. Streets close and GPS can struggle between tall buildings, so follow local signs, watch the traffic, and look up from your phone.

YOUR PRIVACY
No ads. No tracking. No analytics.
Your location is used while you walk, to show where you are, notice when you reach a stop and plan the route. It's never sold or shared for advertising, and we don't keep a history of where you've been. You can delete your account, and everything in it, from inside the app.
