Roaming includes an optional, paid residential VPN. Choose an available country and connect through a home-broadband IP address there to access websites and services that require a local residential connection while you travel.

WHY ROAMING USES ANDROID VPNSERVICE

Roaming uses Android's VpnService API to create and manage the on-device VPN tunnel for this residential VPN feature. It is needed to route internet traffic from other apps on your device through the VPN, not just traffic within a browser. WireGuard encrypts traffic between your device and Roaming's VPN server. From that server, traffic is forwarded through a third-party residential network in your selected country. Roaming itself stays outside the tunnel so its connection controls remain accessible.

The VPN is optional and is not required to buy, install or use an eSIM. Before your first connection, Roaming displays a separate disclosure about traffic routing and usage and asks you to agree. Android also asks you to approve the VPN connection. You can disconnect from the app or Android's VPN settings.

Connection data, including your selected country, exit IP address, connection times and byte counts, is processed to run the VPN and meter your plan. VPN plans have data allowances and speed limits shown before purchase. VPN traffic also uses your underlying Wi-Fi or mobile data connection; it does not provide additional eSIM data.
