Thrum: Feel the Rhythm

Your wrist plays a rhythm. You tap it back.

That is the whole game, and it asks for something almost nothing else on your watch asks for:
one minute of completely undivided attention.

Thrum has no sound and nothing to watch. The pattern arrives as vibration, and the only way
to answer it is to feel the timing and meet it. Every round appends one more pulse and
tightens the window you have to land in — a quarter-second of slack in round one, down to 120
milliseconds by round fifteen. The sequence you have to hold in your mind grows at exactly
the rate your margin for a wandering thought disappears.


A MINUTE OF SINGLE-POINTED ATTENTION

Most games compete for your attention with noise. Thrum removes every other channel until
only one is left: the pulse against your skin. Nothing counts you in. Nothing flashes a
warning. No meter tells you how you are doing halfway through the pattern.

So there is nowhere for your mind to go. Hold the rhythm or lose it — the run ends the moment
your attention does. A pattern you can only feel leaves no spare capacity to think about
anything else, and for the length of a run that turns out to be a rest.


A PRACTICE, NOT A TIME-KILLER

A run takes about a minute, which makes this something you can actually do deliberately —
between meetings, before something difficult, or any moment you want to gather yourself. It
is not designed to keep you scrolling. It is designed to give you a clean, demanding minute
and then let you put your arm down.

The difficulty curve does the work. Round one is easy enough that anyone lands it; round
fifteen demands a stillness you have to settle into rather than force. Getting there is a
matter of attention, not reflexes alone.


BLIND MODE

The screen switches off completely during playback. No sweep, no counter, no light — just the
rhythm and your hand. It keeps its own separate high score, because sustaining attention with
nothing at all to look at is a genuinely different discipline, and a harder one.


THE SCORE IS YOUR STEADINESS

Thrum records how far every tap landed from the beat, down to the millisecond. Two players
who both reach round twelve are not tied — the steadier hand ranks higher. Your ten best runs
in each mode are kept on the watch, ordered by rounds cleared and then by precision, so you
can watch your consistency tighten over weeks rather than just chasing a bigger number.

Install the optional free Thrum companion on your paired phone to relay your bests to Play
Games leaderboards. Skip it and you lose nothing but the global boards — the game is complete
on the watch.


NOTHING HERE COMPETES WITH YOU

An app about attention has no business taking any. Thrum has:
