Overview

Features & Capabilities

Brain Lab is a learning and clinical reasoning support app for occupational therapists, rehabilitation professionals, and medical students that allows you to compare CT/MRI images with the Standard Brain Atlas (MNI152) and visualize the following aspects of a region of interest in one go:

* Structural name (localization)
* Vascular supply
* Related neural circuits (origin, pathway, function, clinical notes)
* Expected symptoms
* Points for evaluation and examination
* Rehabilitation perspective

This app provides a comprehensive and integrated visualization of these aspects. ■ Main Features
- Switch and display atlas layers (cerebral cortex, subcortical structures, cerebellum, vascular supply areas) on a standard brain (MNI152)
- Automatically display related structure names, neural circuits, symptoms, assessments, and rehabilitation information from the clicked position on the cross-section (or quick jump to coordinate presets)
- Includes conceptual diagrams of major networks such as the Papez circuit and basal ganglia loops
- Presents candidate structures not only at the clicked position but also within a radius of ◯ mm
(Designed to broadly identify surrounding areas due to limitations in the correspondence between actual patient images and the standard brain)
- Equipped with a search window that allows cross-searching of structure names, pathway names, circuit names, and symptoms using keywords
- Always distinguishes between "anatomically established pathways," "functional networks," and "estimated pathways" with card headings. * Includes citation of primary sources such as StatPearls (with an automatic check for discrepancies between citations and sources).
* Features an operation guide that allows you to check operation methods at any time using the "?" button.
* Records symptom check results for each case (saves on the device, no external transmission) and can be exported as PDF/text.
* Switches between multi-section view and 3D single view.
* Offline support allows use even without an internet connection.

■ Estimated amount of included data (as of September 2026, updated as needed)
* Brain structure/regions: 137 items (all with MNI standard brain coordinates)
* Explanation of neural circuits: 147 items
* Assumed symptoms: 304 items
* Evaluation/examination points: 248 items
* Rehabilitation perspective: 184 items

■ Recommended for:
* Occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech-language pathologists involved in rehabilitation for cerebrovascular diseases and higher brain dysfunction
* Medical students during clinical rotations
* Those who want to grasp the spatial image of structures they know the words for but don't know where they are located in three dimensions
* For finding clues when you don't know what to look up in specialized books

■ Important Notes (Please read carefully)
* This app is not a medical device. Do not use it to determine diagnosis or treatment plans.
* Automatic alignment to actual patient images is not performed. It is a reference and learning tool for standard brain atlases.
* The displayed structural names, neural circuits, symptoms, evaluations, and rehabilitation information are general information based on textbook knowledge. It does not determine the clinical diagnosis or rehabilitation prescription for individual patients.
Use it as a "starting point" for clinical reasoning and always compare it with actual evaluation and test results.
* The entered case information is saved only on your device and is not transmitted to external servers. Do not enter any personally identifiable information (name, ID, etc.).

■ About the Data
All brain atlas data and standard brain templates used in this app are licensed for commercial use (CC BY-SA / CC BY-ND / Licensed License).
For details on sources and licenses, please see the "Credits & Licenses" screen within the app.
Furthermore, we are progressively adding citations of primary sources such as StatPearls to the explanations of structures and symptoms.

## Release Notes (v1.1.0, version Code 3)

<br>Improved usability and added new features.<br><br>・Added a &quot;Major Blood Vessels&quot; button to the 3D single-unit view. The major blood vessels of the Circle of Willis, including the internal carotid artery, anterior cerebral artery, middle cerebral artery, posterior cerebral artery, basilar artery, and vertebral artery, can be displayed in a 3D model with color coding by system (with legend panel).<br>- The &quot;Show Lesions and Blood Vessels Only&quot; button temporarily hides the brain parenchyma, making it easier to check the positional relationship between drawn lesions and blood vessels.<br>- Added △▽ buttons to precisely advance brain image slices one at a time.<br>- Improved visibility of the selection status of the quick jump button with highlighting.<br>- Improved the &quot;Meaning of Colors&quot; legend panel to support collapsing and left/right switching, allowing distinction not only by color but also by pattern.<br>- Added a coordinate detail display button (displays a summary of the neural circuit and function at the tapped location).<br>- Improved the display of procedure headings and the setting of the surrounding search radius.<br>
---

## Release Notes (v1.1.1, version Code 4)

<br>Improved usability.<br><br>- Added a button to the header to allow users to re-select the display language at any time (allowing switching even outside of startup).<br>- Added a &quot;Fill Slice Gap&quot; function to automatically fill in the gaps between slices when a single lesion is drawn across multiple slices (a confirmation message is displayed before execution to prevent accidental connection of multiple lesions drawn in distant locations).<br>- Improved the &quot;Reflect Lesion in Range&quot; button to recognize lesions drawn in multiple locations as independent lesion points.<br>
---

## Release Notes (v1.2.0, versionCode 5)

<br>New features and usability improvements have been implemented.<br><br>- Added a function to switch and display the axial section tilt reference (AC-PC line / OM line). You can now actually re-cut and check the cross-section using the angle of the OM line (extraorbital auditory meatus line), which is commonly used in clinical CT.<br><br>The slider allows for fine adjustment within the range of -20° to +20°.<br>
---
## Release Notes (v1.2.1, version Code 6)

<br>Improved the display of &quot;Jump to frequently used structures&quot; and enhanced 3D operability on tablets.<br><br>- Added the ability to rotate by tracing around the image in 3D standalone display, and repositioned the zoom button for easier use on tablets (making it easier to operate without a mouse).<br>- Reduced the app&#39;s performance and improved display stability on compatible devices.<br>

---
## Release Notes (v1.2.2, version Code 7)

<br>Improved the accuracy of brain coordinate data and added pathways to new structures and neural circuits.<br><br>- Added one-tap links to the &quot;Nucleus ambiguus&quot; and &quot;Nucleus tractus solitarius&quot; (brainstem nuclei involved in swallowing and articulation).<br>- Added one-tap links to the &quot;Dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC)&quot; and &quot;Cerebellar cognitive loop&quot; (both provide immediate access to existing detailed information).<br>- Added a new display style for pathways to distinguish between established neural circuits (solid lines) and neural circuits estimated from functional imaging studies, etc. (dotted lines).<br>
---
## Release Notes (v1.2.3, versionCode 8)

<br>The display of neural circuits has been further improved for better readability, and new neural circuits have been added.<br>- Added links to new neural circuits:<br>&quot;Emotional pain pathway,&quot; &quot;Insular cortical projection of temperature and pain,&quot; &quot;Sampleness network,&quot; &quot;Auditory object recognition pathway&quot; (all with symptom, assessment, and rehabilitation perspectives).<br>
