Drift is a sleep sounds app you build yourself. Layer white noise, pink noise and rain with a fan, wind or ocean waves, set the level of each one, and fall asleep to a mix that is actually yours.

Most sleep sounds apps play one track at a time. Drift plays as many as you like, together, each with its own volume — a sound machine you already own, with every dial on it.

FOURTEEN SOUNDS, MIXED YOUR WAY

White noise, pink noise, brown noise, rain, thunderstorm, ocean waves, stream, wind, fan, campfire, night crickets, train hum, cafe murmur and heartbeat.

Sit rain at 70%, a campfire underneath it and a fan below that. Every loop is seamless, so nothing clicks, gaps or restarts in the quiet. Save the mix, give it a name, and it is back in one tap tomorrow night. Drift also remembers the mix you were playing and has it waiting when you open the app.

THE SLEEP TIMER FADES OUT INSTEAD OF CUTTING OFF

Choose 15, 30, 45, 60 or 90 minutes, or any length up to eight hours. When the sleep timer ends, the whole mix eases down to silence over 30 seconds, one, two or five minutes — you pick. It fades out instead of cutting off, because a sound stopping suddenly is the thing that wakes people up. Still awake? Add fifteen minutes without getting up.

No account, no sign-up, no tracking, no analytics, no ads. Every sound is generated in-house and ships inside the app, so there is nothing to stream and nothing to download — Drift works on a plane, in a basement, with the phone in airplane mode. Nothing leaves your phone, because the app makes no network requests of its own.

Sleep sounds are not one thing, and the right one depends on what you are drowning out. Brown noise and a fan mask a snoring partner. White noise covers noisy neighbors and traffic. Pink noise and rain suit shift work and daytime sleep. Drift is dark only, with a true black option for OLED screens. Big targets, one main screen, and everything one-handed, because nobody wants to read an interface at 3am. Playback keeps going with the screen locked, and pauses on its own when you unplug your headphones or a call comes in.

Every one of the fourteen loops was synthesised from scratch by Froggy Eye Ltd — no samples, no field recordings, nothing licensed. That is why they loop perfectly and why the whole app fits offline.
